OK, SO I AM ABOUT TO RANT!! 😠

I received a call from a gentleman who had been referred to me. My response?

“NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT”

Read on for why

His wife had been in the hospital for several weeks and yesterday was discharged to a residential care home.

This is called “Discharge to Assess” and as such means, she hasn’t yet had a Care Needs Assessment nor a Financial Assessment to find out what her needs are, whether she will improve enough with a re-ablement package to go back home and who will pay for her social care if she has ongoing needs.

Under the current rules, a person is entitled to up to six weeks of this care free of charge to them.

This of course helps to free up acute beds in hospitals and is generally a nicer place to be than a hospital ward.

He was at the care home to see her arrive although he couldn’t touch her or go in with her.

SO FAR SO GOOD

But then he was handed a contract by a manager of the care home and asked to read it, sign where indicated and return ASAP!!!

Fortunately, he contacted someone who knew me and suggested we speak.

If you know anyone else coming under this sort of pressure then tell them not to sign anything until they have had time to think and take advice.
